If you’re planning a family camping trip, then one of the top activities on your itinerary is probably a trip to the beach. Nothing compares to the feeling of sand between your toes or the sound of the crashing waves from the sea. It’s the perfect place for visitors of all ages, with plenty of sandcastles for little ones to build and sun rays for parents to catch. That’s why it’s so important for Fallow Fields to offer camping in Kent near beach locations that are fit for the whole family.
Whether you’re staying at our Selson Farm or Lathe Barn campsite, you’ll be absolutely spoiled for choice when it comes to nearby beach locations. Within just half an hour of Fallow Fields, you’ll find beaches at Broadstairs, Margate, Ramsgate, Botany Bay, Minnis Bay, Joss Bay, Viking Bay and Sandwich Bay, to name just a few. The biggest challenge for you will be trying to decide where to explore first.
Botany Bay is a great place for family activities. You can do a bit of fossil hunting and exploring rock pools when the tide is out. Perhaps Dumpton Beach will be more you thing. With its wide promenade and sandy beach stretching for 150 metres around the coast to Louisa Bay, it offers some truly breathtaking views.
Kingsgate Bay is another fantastic option. This sheltered sandy cove is known for its sea caves, which are considered to be some of the best in all of the UK. This is a popular beach for families and is quieter than the surrounding Joss Bay and Botany Bay. With Kingsgate Castle overlooking the southern end of the beach, it really is a fantastic day out.
So many of these beaches offer a full day’s worth of excitement. Not only can you enjoy a spot of sea, sand and sun, but there’s plenty of other attractions and things to do. Try out some surfing, walk the promenades to listen to some live music or play in the nearby amusement arcades. Of course, no visit to the beach is complete without refueling on some tasty food. You can grab an ice cream or some fish and chips, tuck in at a restaurant or refresh with some tipple and tasty grub at a local pub.
Plus, many of the beaches near Fallow Fields are dog friendly. Canine campers are welcome at both our Selson Farm and Lathe Barn sites at no extra cost (although they are not permitted with furnished bell tent bookings). We recommend that you check the beach information before you go to ensure there are no restrictions for dogs.
We’re blessed at Fallow Fields to have such an abundance of nearby beaches for our campers to take advantage of. From quiet and excluded sandy stretches to classic seaside fun for the whole family, there’s something to suit everyone. So, pack your bucket and spade, slather on the sunscreen and put your shades on. When it comes to camping in Kent near the beach, we’ve got you covered.
